The Hettich 46ASTM-100C model of Rotofix 46 series centrifuge is a variable-speed benchtop centrifuge with a maximum speed of 2,000 rpm. This centrifuge comes with a four-place swing-out rotor, four buckets, and four 100mL adapters for 37 x 200mm tubes (sold separately). The rotor accommodates four 290mL tubes (sold separately). The stainless-steel inner bowl simplifies cleanup. Its timer is settable from 1 to 99 minutes or 1 to 59 seconds and has 10 programmable memory settings. The centrifuge automatically senses the rotor type and stops when the lid opens for increased safety.
This benchtop centrifuge is non-refrigerated. It accommodates ASTM (American Society for Testing Materials) tubes for applications such as testing water in oil, suspension of particulates, dairy, and micro fluidics.

A centrifuge is used to spin fluids of different densities to separate various parts, commonly blood and DNA samples. Centrifuges are composed of the main body or housing and a spinning rotor. Tubes of cellular material suspended in liquid are inserted into the rotor and spun at various speeds to separate components. Centrifuges are used in medical, industrial, and research laboratories, as well as academic and clinical settings.
Hettich manufactures centrifuges and incubators for clinical and life science applications. The company, founded in 1904, is headquartered in Tuttlingen, Germany.
